This page compares what five Indian online brokers publish for account opening, demat annual maintenance (AMC) and equity brokerage. It also lists the depository (DP) charge on a delivery sale. Every cell comes from that broker's own pricing page, read on 9 October 2026, and each row links to it. The brokers publish their charges in different shapes: a flat fee per order, a percentage with a cap, a fee only on selling, or a fee that waives in the first year.
Brokers change their charges and describe the same charge in different ways, so each figure is right only for the date it was read. Takṣa has not been paid by any broker, and this page does not rank them or say which one to use.
What the table leaves out
The government, the exchanges and the regulator set securities transaction tax, exchange transaction charges, SEBI turnover fees and stamp duty. They are not what separates one broker from another, so the table leaves them out. GST of 18% is added on brokerage and on some other charges, and where a page says so, the cell says so. Futures and options, mutual funds, margin and pledge charges are also not compared here.
One worked example
The DP charge applies when a delivery order is sold, not when it is bought. This example takes one delivery sale of a single stock, an order of ₹10,000. It adds brokerage and the DP charge from the published rates above, before government and exchange charges:
- Zerodha Kite: ₹15.34 from its published rates. Brokerage is zero and the DP charge already includes GST.
- INDmoney: ₹33.63. Brokerage is ₹10 (0.1%, under the ₹20 cap), the DP charge is ₹18.5, and GST of 18% applies to both.
- Groww: ₹35.40. Brokerage is ₹10 (0.1%, under the ₹20 cap), the DP charge is ₹20, and GST of 18% applies to both.
- Upstox: ₹47.20. Brokerage is ₹20, the DP charge is ₹20, and GST of 18% applies to both.
This is our arithmetic from the published rates, shown in the order of the table and not as a ranking. Actual contract notes include other charges and can differ. A different order size, or several stocks sold on one day, changes the result. Paytm Money is left out because its DP charge sits in a depository charges table on its pricing page that we did not read, so that cell shows a dash.
Figures were read from each broker's own pricing page on 9 October 2026; where a page did not state a figure or we did not read it, the cell shows a dash or says so.
