About Takṣa

What Takṣa is
Takṣa is a directory of products built by Indians, a board of problems that people in India want solved, and a place for stories reported from the ground about early products and the people who use them.
Who runs it
Takṣa was started in 2026 by a small team of recent graduates based in Delhi. Everything on the site is credited to the Takṣa team; when we add named reporters, their names will appear on their work.
Why we started it
India shouldn't have to wait for every important product to be made somewhere else and imported. Good products are already being built here, often for needs that products made elsewhere ignore: Indian languages, Indian prices, patchy networks, the way people here actually pay and work. Many of them are hard to find.
We also kept seeing real problems that nobody was building for. So the site lists both: what has been built, and what still needs building.
How listings are made
- Each product listing is compiled by the Takṣa team from public information and from ground research, such as talking to the product's team and the people who use it.
- Where a listing rests on public information only, the listing says so.
- The sources are linked on the listing, and each listing shows the date it was last updated.
- Every listing states what the product does differently for India.
- A listing is not an endorsement, and the companies listed have not reviewed their listings unless the page says so. No company has paid to be listed.
- We do not show ratings. Upvotes on the site are counts of real visitors, starting from zero.
How problems are chosen
- Each problem on the board is drawn from public reports, studies or government data.
- The figures on a problem page link to where they came from, under Resources.
- Anyone can post a problem. A person on the team reads every submission before anything is published.
How stories are reported
- The first stories are being reported now. Each one is reported in person, with the place and date of the visit stated.
- People quoted are named, and quoted with their knowledge.
- Before publishing, we send the people in the story the facts to check, not the text.
- We say plainly what is unproven or did not work.
Corrections
If something on Takṣa is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Corrections to a story are noted on that story with the date. Listings and problem pages show the date they were last updated.
