What it does
DeHaat sells farm inputs, gives crop advice and helps farmers sell their produce, through an app and through local DeHaat centres. It was founded in 2012.
A small farmer usually buys seed and fertiliser from one shop, takes advice from someone else and sells to a trader, and each of them has their own interest. DeHaat handles all of it. The inputs include seed, fertiliser and crop protection, the advice is tailored to the farm, and produce is sold on to larger buyers.
The centres are run by local entrepreneurs. The company reports more than 12,000 of them.
